Reconfiguration and extension of period property, connecting the house together

This lovely period property had been previously extended on several occasions.  Different parts of the house just didn’t connect together and there was no view out on to a lovely garden.

Absolute Architecture re-planned the internal circulation and created a rear extension to provide a stunning open plan kitchen and family space. We also worked on the front of the house to add a welcoming porch and some much needed kerb appeal.

Location: Streatley on Thames, Berkshire

Materials: Conservation brick work, aluminium framing and glass, natural oak.

The clever aspects: This project was all about switching a house around to create a good flow between rooms. Previous extensions got smaller and smaller as you progressed through the building. The new extension has a cathedral like sense of space that provides a stunning entertaining space with real impact. This space makes sense of the rest of the house.

The contemporary new extension space just takes everyone’s breath away. With pared back simple detailing the focus is all on the quality of the space and the connection to the outdoors. We also had fun with the homeowner, choosing and installing some beautiful internal finishes and fixtures.
