Period home in Cold Ash gets burst of warmth and light with clever extension

For the homeowners, this lovely house was almost perfect but just needed some love and attention here and there. There were also two things that were missing from making this a dream home: a fabulous kitchen area and master bedroom suite.

Absolute Architecture was able to provide an extension to the period property that the homeowners truly love. We also tidied up some asymmetry in the designs, sorted some dark and underwhelming circulation and provided a useful boot room entrance.

Location: Cold Ash, Berkshire

Materials: Absolute Architecture worked hard to match the bricks and materials in this period home. Windows were upgraded to maintenance-free aluminium sashes. The driveway was gravelled to soften the approach and some careful landscaping enhanced the expansive lawn with a stunning, large fish pond.

Clever aspects: Bringing light and space back to the interiors was our task here, so we had to get clever with careful intervention rather than a dramatic transformation.

We love: We loved transforming this house for our lovely and very gracious clients. We particularly like the traditional aspect looking back across lined lawns from the end of the garden.
